Field Visit looking for Saxon Bristol (NB: Fully Booked)

On Saturday August 20, 2022
Peter Insole, Principal Environment Officer for Bristol City Council
Walk

Please note that this fieldwalk is limited to 25 and is now fully booked, but there is a waiting list.

The origins of Bristol is one of many historical mysteries in the city.  It has long been known that the earliest settlement pre-dated the Norman Conquest, but where was this Saxon place by the bridge and is there any sign of it today?  This short walk will examine some of the sites and archaeological evidence for this early medieval town.

We meet at St Peter’s Church on Castle Green at 2 pm. The walk will conclude at the same location.
