In the 19th century an antiquarian uncovered a 32 room Roman villa with a separate bathhouse on his estate at Stancombe. He opened it to the public at the time but after his death the records and plans of the buildings were lost. Recent archaeological work has relocated the villa and with the discovery of a long-lost plan has reestablished the orientation of the buildings and their position of the terrace. The evidence to date will be discussed. There will be an update on the Roman kiln site at Wickwar following a new dig in 2025.
