Bev Knott will give an illustrated talk extending his presentation given last year and reflecting new research derived from the ongoing North Somerset Project. Initially, Bev will provide focus on road connections between settlements, villas, religious foundations and industrial sites such as lead, iron and salt works. Later in the talk the commercial and leisure use of roads in the wider Roman world will be considered and comparisons drawn with developing road systems in 18th Century England.
