Walk

On the 25th March 2018 a group of 15 BAAS members and guests were shown around the beautiful Stoke Park estate by John Hunt.

John’s enthusiasm for the archaeology of the estate was palpable as he shared with us the hidden landscape he had discovered over the years. We were shown lost structures that most visitors to the estate would be unaware still existed, such as  walkway tunnels, ruined estate buildings, the horse pond and the ghost of ornamental ponds. In its day the estate must have been a veritable paradise for those able to enjoy its delights, and so it was for our group.  Many thanks to John for leading the walk.
